Telangana: Congress pundit predicts political instability

Telugu people wore traditional attire and offered special prayers in the morning to mark the festival.

Hyderabad: Sri Vikari Nama Ugadi was celebrated in Telangana state on Saturday with traditional gaiety. Telugu people wore traditional attire and offered special prayers in the morning to mark the festival.

After reciting the almanac at the Congress headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, the party’s pundit Srinivasa Murthy said that as Vikari Nama is under the influence of the Shani Graha this year, the country will witness lesser rainfall and enmity between the rulers of the country.

“People and rulers will suffer from health problems and the state and even the country will face political instability,” he said.

Meanwhile, people adorned their homes with mango leaves and flowers and also consumed the Ugadi Pachadi, which is made using neem flowers, jaggery, pepper or green chillies, salt, tamarind juice, and small pieces of raw mango.

Panchanga Sravanam sessions were held at temples and other places as part of the celebrations.
