Kukatpally flyover opened to traffic
Hyderabad: Succumbing to the pressure of commuters and netizens, the GHMC allowed traffic on the JNTU flyover on Saturday. The flyover was constructed to provide additional lanes for the heavy traffic on t he roads connecting the IT hubs of Gachibowli, Kondapur, Madhapur with Kukatpally, Miyapur and others. The Rs 97.94-crore flyover will facilitate motorists transporting on the JNTU-Hitec City stretch.
Though the flyover construction was completed a few days, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was not keen on permitting traffic on the structure, citing repairs and the model code of conduct.
Netizens took municipal administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar to task and demanded that the flyover be opened. Responding to their demand, Mr Kumar instructed the corporation to allow traffic on the flyover. It can carry about 14,000 commuters during peak hours.
