Kozhikode: 10 per cent growth in number of IIMK graduates
Kozhikode: Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIMK) 21st annual convocation held on its campus here on Saturday saw a growth of 10 per cent in graduates.
The number of female graduates also soared by 16 per cent compared to last year. The event witnessed 629 students getting their MBA degrees and seven PhDs.
Of the 376 students of the PGP awarded MBA, 107 were female, of the 253 of the class of Executive PGP, 40 were female. Of them, 94 passed out from EPGP Kochi and 159 from EPGP Kozhikode.
Prof Debashis Chatterjee, director, IIMK said, 107 girls (29%) participated in the final placements with a highest annual package of Rs 38 lakh and an average of around Rs 20 lakh.
The average pay for girls, in consulting, operations and sales and marketing roles, was more than the male candidates.
"The most sought after jobs offered a 1:1 ratio among students as we wanted the quest for our equity through a diversity of thought, talent and multi-dimensional outlook," he said.
Congratulating graduates, A. Vellayan, chairman, the board of governors, said, "Students graduating from this Institute are groomed for being entrepreneurs, agents of change in the dynamic business environment having a customer-centric orientation and a global economic, political and cultural mindset."
In his speech, chief guest D. Shivakumar, group executive president, Aditya Birla Group, spoke about choices one has to make in his life. He said, "You make 1000 decisions every day based on the choices placed before you."
