Bengaluru: Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat said here on Friday that the Election Commission was looking into JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda's complaint that the state Home Minister's adviser, Kempaiah continued to hold office in the police department and money was being transported in police vehicles for the coming polls.
“We have directed all the extra -Constitutional authorities to keep away from the elections. The commission will take strict action against such people, who are political appointees but still continue to function in their former workplaces,'' he warned.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Rawat said the EC was also reviewing the transfers made by the state government just before the Model Code of Conduct kicked in and would take appropriate action.
The entire transfer list would be reviewed and if any officer, who had served for a long period in one post , was re-posted to it, he would be transferred. Denying the Congress party’s allegations that over 15 lakh Muslim names were missing from voters' list, Mr Rawat said that 7.5 lakh votes had been deleted from all communities in the state for valid reasons like shifting of a voter to another area. The commission was also reviewing complaints of attempts to obtain voter ID cards for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants using the Aadhaar card.
