Telangana: Notice given to Global Hospitals
Hyderabad: The TS Medical Council served a notice to Global Hospitals on Wednesday demanding explanation regarding the recent limb lengthening and reconstruction surgery it carried out.
Dr Ravinder Reddy, chairman of the council said, “We have summoned the doctor from Global Hospitals to explain to the Council why such a surgery was carried out on a young patient.
What was the basis and reason to carry out the surgery? Without informing the parents, how could the hospital carry out the surgery? These issues require to be closely looked into both in the interest of the patient and also the ethics of the hospital.”
The Council meanwhile visited a hospital in Karimnagar on March 30, to probe illegal appendix and hysterectomy operations that were allegedly carried out. Dr Reddy said, “We have summoned those doctors too as initial verification shows that there is reason to doubt. Dr K. Suresh has been asked to present all the medical records of this surgery.
These kind of practises give a wrong name to the profession and there is a need to arrest the same.” According to sources, the TS health ministry has asked the Council to look into these issues and book cases against doctors if negligence is proved.
