K M Mani seeks stay on probe against him
Kochi: The Kerala Congress (M) leader, Mr K.M. Mani, on Wednesday moved the Kerala High Court seeking suspension of proceedings in the bar bribery case pending against him before the Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court till Crime Branch files an inquiry report against R. Sukeshan, the Investigating Officer.
The former finance minister, Mr K.M, Mani, sought a directive to Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court to accept the final report filed by the Vigilance. The vigilance had cleared him of all charges in the bribery case. He also pointed out that there had been considerable delay on the part of the vigilance court in acting on the final report.
The crime branch is probing a complaint against the VACB Investigation Officer in the case, R. Sukeshan. The charge against Sukeshan was that he had conducted an improper inquiry in the bar case. It was also alleged that he revealed investigation details to witnesses, and instigated the complainant, Kerala Bar Hotel Association (KBHA) working president Biju Ramesh, to raise allegations against four ministers. Sukeshan had in his factual report submitted to the Vigilance Director recommended filing of chargesheet against Mani. However, the vigilance rejected the same.
