Telangana government forms SIT to probe Andhra Pradesh data breach case

The SIT team has nine officials including three IPS officers, four DSP rank officers and two inspectors.

Hyderabad: The TS government on Wednesday formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case of breach of data of the citizens of Andhra Pradesh. The SIT constituted with nine police officials will be headed by Inspector General Stephen Raveendra, who is the in-charge IG of West Zone of the state.

The government received a letter from the DGP that T. Lokeshwara Reddy, a resident of KPHB, lodged a complaint at Madhapur police station stating that sensitive data of individuals were illegally in possession and were being misused by IT Grids India Pvt Ltd, without the consent of the individuals.

As the investigation requires expertise in cyber crimes involving various technologies in addition to investigation in several places other than Cyberabad, all of which requires sustained and focused investigation, an SIT has been constituted under CrPC for the probe of the case.

The SIT team has nine officials including three IPS officers, four DSP rank officers and two inspectors.

The team headed by IG Stephen Raveendra also has Kamareddy SP N Swetha, Cyberabad DCP (Crimes) Rohini Priyadarshini, Narayanpet SDPO G Sridhar, Cyberabad cyber crimes ACP Ch Y Srinivas, Cyberabad DSP Cyber crimes B Ravi Kumar Reddy, Madhapur ACP N Shaym Prasad Rao, Hyderabad cyber crimes inspectors B Ramesh and G Venkat Rami Reddy.

The SIT was asked by the state government to take up the case registered at Madhapur with immediate effect and also all the other cases related to the issue registered across the state.

“The SIT will undertake a thorough investigation in all the aspects of the case in an expeditious, effective, professional and fair manner for bringing out all the facts and circumstances leading to the commission of the crime,” the government said in an order on Wednesday.

It also asked the cyber crime police stations of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates and also the cyber crime wing of the Crime Investigation Department to extend all possible assistance to the SIT keeping in view the complexity of the case. After completion of the investigation, the SIT will file its report in the concerned court of Law, having the jurisdiction, read the GO.
