Kakinada: Polling station-wise security arrangements proposed

He called for geo-tagging of vehicles to be used for transport of election material.

Kakinada: East Godavari collector Karthikeya Misra called for polling station-wise security arrangements for the ensuing polls to help conduct of elections in a free and fair manner in the district.

The collector reviewed the security arrangements for the ensuing polls with the senior police officials and others through video conference from the collectorate here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that as many as 4,580 polling stations were proposed to be set up for the ensuing polls and laid stress to make security arrangements polling station-wise. He said that as the names of some polling stations were changed, he asked the police to take note of it and make security arrangements accordingly.

The collector asked the police to appoint sectoral and route security personnel besides deploying striking forces at each constituency-level headed by a DSP rank officer. He called for geo-tagging of vehicles to be used for transport of election material.

He felt the need to take all necessary security arrangements for pre and post poll arrangements like securing EVMs, transporting them to the designated polling stations, installation for conduct of polling, securing them at strong rooms and also for taking up counting of votes to avoid any untoward incidents.
