Kakinada: Special chief secretary, labour and employment and poll observer for East and West Godavari graduates’ constituency of state Legislative Council, J.S.V. Prasad verified the scrutiny of nominations filed by the contestants in their presence at collectorate here on Wednesday.
East Godavari collector and returning officer for graduates’ constituency Karthikeya Misra said that the scrutiny of nominations was carried out as per guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India and added that withdrawal of nominations would be accepted on March 8 up to 3.00 pm.
He asked the contestants to strictly comply with the model of code of conduct. In a related development, East Godavari joint collector A. Mallikarjuna said that two nominations were rejected during the scrutiny as the two contestants failed to submit certified copies of electoral rolls. They were identified as Kommili Rama Raju and Panthagada Raghu.
The JC said that so far as many as 51 nominations were filed to contest in MLC polls.
