The accused was involved in a total of 16 cases since 2003, which includes 13 murder cases and 4 theft cases.

Hyderabad: A serial killer was arrested in the wee hours on Wednesday by the Nawabpet police, Mahbubnagar district.

The accused, who has been involved in 13 murder cases in 2003, has been identified as the 32-year-old Yousuf, alias MD Pasha, a daily wage labourer.

According to the police, the accused was a rambler who used to change his identity and visit different areas in the guise of a painter. Speaking about his distinct modus operandi, Mahbubnagar SP, Rema Rajeshwari, said, “He’d allure his victims to deserted areas under the pretext of showing them hidden treasure and valuables. Then as per his plan, he would sprinkle chilli powder in the eyes of his victims and attack them with a boulder and escape with the booty.”

The accused was involved in a total of 16 cases since 2003, which includes 13 murder cases and 4 theft cases. He roamed scot-free for 16 years. Though he was nabbed by the cops multiple times, he never confessed to these cases.

In one of the cases, he lured the deceased Jamalpur Balaraj, 52, a local from Chokkampet village of Rajapur mandal, on false grounds of arranging sheep/goats at a reasonable price.

The victim left his village on February 9 and rode to Lingampally on his Moped. “The accused took him to the forest in Kanugakucha Tanda. Once there, the accused sprinkled chilli powder in the eyes of the victim and attacked him with a boulder, which caused instantaneous death. Following this, he fled from the scene with the belongings of the victim and did not leave any evidence behind,” added the police official.

The cops had been monitoring the stolen mobile phone which belonged to the victim. After the accused, Yousuf, switched on the mobile phone and inserted his SIM card in it, the police traced the mobile signal, which led them to a house in Chowdapur village.

With this information, the police raided his house at Chowdapur and arrested the accused.
