Hyderabad: 8 killed, 8 injured after mini van rams into bus

The Magic was speeding and one of its tires burst, due to which the driver lost control and collided with the bus.

Hyderabad: In an accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon on the Nagarjunasagar Highway road, a Tata Magic collided with a TSRTC bus which was on its way to the city from Devarakonda. At least eight passengers died and eight suffered injuries.

The victims have been identified as C. Ramulamma, 45, B. Govardhan, 26, N. Venkatesham, 50, A. Srinath, 23, and the Tata Magic driver, K. Mahesh, who died on the way to the hospital. The other three victims are yet to be identified by the cops.

According to the police, the TSRTC bus with registration number AP 24 Z 0060 started from Devarakonda, crossed Kondamallepally and was about to reach Chennaram village. Meanwhile, a Tata Magic was approaching Kondamallepally from Maal village at about 1 pm on Wednesday.

The Magic was speeding and one of its tyres allegedly burst, due to which the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the TSRTC bus which was approaching from the opposite direction.

Kondamallepally sub-inspector, Srinivas Naik, said, “Seven passengers, including three women who were traveling in the Tata Magic, died on the spot. The Tata Magic driver was seriously injured and died on his way to the hospital.”

The injured were immediately transported to Kamineni Hospital in Narketpally and those who were extremely critical were shifted to Hyderabad.

The police has registered a case and further investigation is underway.
