Cops finally arrest kingpin in Pollachi sex abuse case

Police arrest gang involved in harassing young girls.

COIMBATORE: Twenty-five-year-old Thirunavukarasu, alleged leader of the gang that sexually harassed hundreds of young girls, was recently arrested by the district special team police.

According to a police source, the district police recently arrested a three-member gang identified as Sabari Rajan (25), Satheesh (28) and Vasanth Kumar (24). Police also seized over 40 porn videos from them which they had shot, while sexually harassing their victims. Police have also arrested a few more in connection with the case. The elusive two were identified as Manikandan (26) and their leader Thirunavukarasu (25).

The incident came to light after police reacted to a complaint lodged by a college girl from Pollachi. She claimed that a gang befriended her on social media, took her on a sight-seeing trip and sexually abused her and snatched all gold jewels she possessed. The gang also shot a video of the victim while she was being abused in their custody.

During investigation, police got vital information about the gang that has allegedly sexually harassed hundreds of young girls from schools and colleges. Meanwhile, protests were staged and posters pasted in Pollachi, urging the police to arrest the entire gang.

After a long wait and tracking his movement with the help of his mobile phone signals, police arrested gang leader Thirunavukarasu while he was entering his house at Maakinampatti last night from Tirupathi. After producing him in court, he was imprisoned at the Coimbatore Central prison.
