mKeralam app is now on Playstore
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ‘mKeralam’ mobile app of the state government to access all e-governance related services has been launched on a trial basis.
Kerala State IT Mission sources said that within 10 days of the launch of the beta version, about 500 persons have downloaded and transactions worth around Rs 1.5 lakh have taken place.
People can download the beta version of the app on their smart phones from Google Playstore. It is also likely to be made available on the Apple’s app store soon. About 100 services from 17 departments can be accessed through the app in the initial stage and the number of services would be increased in due course. mKeralam will be a single window for all e-governance services of the state government including all services currently being offered through e-District portal, KSEB and Kerala Water Authority Bill payments and payments to various welfare fund boards. The app offers online payment options like debit cards, credit cards, net banking of about 60 banks and e-wallets of all major banks and payment gateways.
A formal launch of the app is expected to be made soon after necessary modifications or upgradation of the app. The app is based in English and a Malayalam version will be launched in due course.
Though the app was developed a couple of months back, the launch of the trial version was delayed owing to security auditing.
