Abhaya case: CBI court to consider discharge petition
Crime branch former DySP K.T. Michel was recently arraigned in the case on charges of destroying evidence and hatching conspiracy.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI special court has posted orders on the discharge petitions filed by the three accused in the Sister Abhaya murder case to Wednesday.
Fr Thomas M. Kottoor, Sr Sephy and Fr Jose Poothrikkayil are the accused in the case who had sought discharge.
The CBI case is that Sr Abhaya, who was an inmate of Pius X convent in Kottayam, was murdered after she witnessed illicit relationship of the priests with the nun. Sr Abhaya was found dead in the well of the convent on March 27, 1992. The crime branch and CBI teams which initially probed the case concluded that it was a case of suicide.
