Hyderabad: A prisoner of Cherlapally Central Prison attempted suicide by consuming phenol in the early hours of Monday. Official sources said that 22-year-old prisoner Satish, who is undergoing a lifer, consumed phenol inside toilet, and that other prisoners tried to save him.
The authorities took him to a hospital. Doctors said his condition is stable. Satish had filed a complaint against a DSP and some prisoners held a protest against the DSP. Prisons' DG Vinoy Singh directed IG A. Narasimha to hold an inquiry in the matter.
