Hyderabad: Chaderghat police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against NRI Usman Qureshi at airports all over the country in connection with a case filed by his wife Mahreen Noor.The police would also question his parents as a case under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code has been booked against them.
Usman Qureshi had sent a ‘talaq’ to his wife through WhatsApp from New York.“We issued an LOC. If the accused arrive at an Indian airport, immigration officials would detain him and hand him over to us,” said Chaderghat inspector G. Sattaiah said. “Since there are allegations against his parents also we will be questioning them soon,” the inspector added.
The victim had alleged that she was constantly harassed by her in-laws when she was living with them.Earlier, the victim had also lodged a complaint with the Mughalpura police station.The case was transferred to Chaderghat police as it was in their jurisdiction.
Mahreen Noor got married to Usman Qureshi, a senior analyst at Seven Heaven Medical Agency in 2015. Her sister-in-law, Heena Fatima, who is married to Usman’s elder brother, Syed Fayazuddin, was divorced in a similar manner six months ago by her husband.
