DMK manifesto getting final touches, says Stalin
Tiruchy: The DMK’s election manifesto for the coming Assembly polls is getting ‘final touches’ and will be released shortly, according to party treasurer M.K. Stalin.
Disclosing this while addressing members of the Tamil Nadu Makkal Nala Paniyalargal Sangam here on Sunday, he said that an expert team was preparing the election manifesto over the past five months. The party would incorporate the demands of the ‘Makkal Nala Paniyalargal’ in its election manifesto, he added.
He further said that the ongoing interviews of party aspirants in Chennai for contesting in the May 16 polls will be completed on Monday.
Referring to the submissions made by Mr Mathivanan, state president of the ‘Tamil Nadu Makkal Nala Paniyalargal Sangam’, that the ruling AIADMK might attempt to influence voters by distributing money through workers of the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee scheme (100 days job scheme), Mr. Stalin said that if that happened, the party would take it up with the Election Commission of India for a suitable remedy.
Mr Stalin also assured them that if the DMK came to power, the government would first withdraw the cases pertaining to the ‘Makkal Nalapaniyalargal Sangam’ pending before the Supreme Court.
Later, addressing the media, Mr Stalin said that the finalisation of the DMK-led alliance would be announced to the media at an appropriate time.
He said that the Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK Government had drawn flak from the Madurai bench of the Madras high court as well as from the Supreme Court in several cases including the case related to the ‘Makkal Nala Paniyalargal’, and appointment of differently abled persons as college lecturers, among others.
Later in the evening, Mr Stalin participated in a meeting of the party’s women’s wing and women volunteers wing under the leadership of party’s women wing secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, Ms. Kanimozhi.
