Bengaluru: Seven held for murder over Facebook post
Bengaluru: The Chikkajala police have solved the murder case in which a 21-year-old youth was stabbed to death by his friends over a post on a social networking website. Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder.
The accused have been identified as H. S. Sandeep, 19, Manjunatha alias Kunta, 21, Madan alias Jonty Rhodes, 21, Yogesh, 22, Bharath alias Dodmane, 21, Prasad alias Porake, 21 and Pradeep alias Swami, 22.
They have been charged with the murder of Arun Rao, a resident of Bettahalasuru, who was working in a cargo company in the airport, on Monday night.
Arun Rao had sent a message on Facebook a few days ago to Sandeep, addressing him as ‘Shishya’. This had sparked a fight between them on February 19.
When Arun and his friends were playing cricket at Bharathinagar grounds, Sandeep had brought the other accused to the field and there was a fight between the two groups. Arun had allegedly attacked Manjunatha and Bharath with a stone.
“Sandeep and gang, who were nursing a grudge against Arun, went to his house on February 29 evening, and called him out on the pretext of speaking to him. Later, they kidnapped him and took him near Bagaluru Cross, where they stabbed him to death using daggers. The seven accused have been nabbed, while three are absconding. Efforts are on to nab them,” the police said. The police have seized four two-wheelers, a Tata Indica car and a Tempo Traveller used to commit the offence.
