KURNOOL: Kadapa is all set to lend its ears to YSRC chief Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy as he sounds the poll bugle ‘Samara Sankharavam’ on Thursday in a do or die campaign that has the potentiality to catapult him to power.
The Samara Sankhar-avam has been designed with utmost care to wean away the masses from the populist schemes of Chief Minister N. Chadrababu Naidu, senior leaders like Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy are meticulously managing the show. Mr Reddy who had been camping for the past two days was the strategic resource of the YSRC chief in attracting new leaders.
The party leadership has lined up ‘neutral influencers’ who will be given an audience and assurances by Mr Reddy before he proceeds to sound Samara Shanka-ravam, said a senior YSRC leader. Reportedly the YSRC chief was jittery after the unethical hijacking of his pronounced programs by Mr Naidu, said a senior YSRC leader.
The Pasupu Kumkuma program appears to be a runaway hit as women have been attracted to it, it is learnt.
Samara Sankharavam meetings are designed to take place across 13 districts of the state. More than 10,000 people are expected to participate in this session along with leaders from 10 constituencies. Along with them key booth committee members and convenors from different constituencies will also participate in the meeting.
In Kadapa, fighting elections is a very costly affair as leaders take it as a prestige issue. The managers of YSRC campaigns here had identified financially sound persons who had ama-ssed wealth in irrigation contracts, mining operations or through any other modes, said an election observer. The district has abundant leaders who made tons of money by engaging in Red sanders and other illegal trades.
The aspirants have been mobilising resourc-es to fight the elections in Kadapa. Even before poll schedule kicks in, these aspirants were negotiating with money lenders, banks, venture capitalists, private equity firms and leasing companies to raise sufficient resourc-es, the source said. Soon after TD MLA Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy joined YSRC, Khaleel Basha also crossed over to YSRC. Mr Basha has a dependable support base among the minority votes in Kadapa constituency....
