Rahul Gandhi ignores security for tribal dance

The elderly women who were already charged by Mr Gandhi's emotional words held his hands tightly and wailed in joy and ecstasy.

Bhubaneswar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday gave his security guards some tense moments when he broke protocol and rushed a group of tribal women to dance with them at the Parivaratan Sankalpa Samavesh rally at Rourkela in Odisha.

Not only Mr Gandhi, Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik, Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra and other senior leaders present at the venue also danced with the tribal women.

In a similar act at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district, Mr Gandhi had on March 7, 2008 slipped the tight security ring and up towards the crowd.

He had touched the elderly men and women standing behind the barricade, greeted them with folded hands and patted them on their back.

The elderly women – who were already charged by Mr Gandhi’s emotional words – held his hands tightly and wailed in joy and ecstasy.

On the same day, at Lanjigarh in same Kalahandi district, without caring for suggestion of the security personnel and district administration, Rahul walked up to a tribal village – Ekrupa - and interacted with the villagers. He asked them about the healthcare and education system in the area.
