Osmania University gets Rs 20 crore to set up Telangana study centre

The Centre has set parameters for evaluating University's work before releasing further funds.

Hyderabad: Osmania University has received the first instalment of Rs 20 crore under the central government's Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan for the creation and facilitation of the Centre for Telangana Studies. The centre will evaluate the various schemes of the government and analyse the impact of the schemes. Social, cultural, political, scientific, urban and rural development and conservation studies will be taken up of the state.

Professor R Ramachandram, vice-chancellor of Osmania University, explained, “The centre will tabulate data and assess ground realities and become a link of advisory for the government in various policy measures. The social, scientific, technological aspects which are going to drive our economy and the evaluation of human resources will be carried out by the centre. This data analytics will help the government with authentic inputs on where they need to improve and work towards better impact.” The Centre has set parameters for evaluating University’s work before releasing further funds.

A total of Rs 100 crore has been earmarked. This will open opportunities for Ph.D scholars who will be required from various disciplines to work in an integrated ecosystem at the centre.
