Andhra Pradesh Women commission offers help to gangrape survivor

The victim belongs to North Andhra and is working in an industry at Sri City.

Nellore: Andhra Pradesh Women Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari promised to help a gangrape survivor during an interaction with her at Sullurpeta on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that four persons gang raped a woman, after kidnapping her when she was with her friend at Sullurpeta railway station on February 3rd night.
The victim belongs to North Andhra and is working in an industry at Sri City.

Speaking to media persons, Ms Rajakumari said that they will not leave the accused and action will be taken to ensure strict punishment.
Upset with the incident, Ms Rajakumari assured financial assistance and a job to the victim.

She said they are taking several steps to prevent such incidents, while pointing to a report submitted to the government on the issues affecting girl students in educational institutions.

Gudur deputy superintendent of police Babu Prasad, Sullurpeta CI Kishore Babu, ZPTC member Muppala Vijetha and Sullurpeta civic body chairperson Nuleti Vijayalakshmi were present.

Meanwhile police took 3 persons into custody suspecting their role behind the gangrape.

Sources in police said that the investigation is in full swing and expressed confidence in nabbing all the offenders within a couple of days.
