TTD executive officer told to file report against hoteliers on bills

Counsel for the petitioner Chandra Mouli said TTD had been allowing hotels and stalls to function even after expiry of their lease period.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams to file an action taken report against hoteliers and stall owners for not issuing the bills for the sale of food and beverages to devotees at the temple town Tirumala.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Ju-stice Ramesh Rangana-than and Justice K. Vijaya Lakshmi issued the notice on a PIL by Parihaara Sewa Samiti seeking to declare inaction of the TTD in taking action against the hoteliers for selling food and beverages at exorbitant rates.

The bench directed the EO to explain about the number checks-raids conducted by TTD vigilance authorities on hotels, canteens and stalls at Tirum-ala and the action taken.

The bench told the TTD to provide a toll free number to devotees for making complaints against hoteliers and stall owners and also give wide publicity to the number.

Counsel for TTD Sivara-ju Srinivas submitted that software was ready for in-troducing an app to recei-ve complaints from devotees against the alleged loot by hoteliers and stall owners and also about the problems faced during th-eir visit to the temple. The app would be launched very soon, he added.
