Karnataka: BJP corners government on Hindu activists' killing
BENGALURU: BJP members in the Legislative Council on Tuesday cornered the ruling Congress government on the issue of failure to handle the law and order situation over the last five years. Initiating a debate under Rule 68, Opposition leader K.S. Eshwarappa criticized CM Siddaramaiah for failing to ensure life and safety of citizens. Narrating the details of death of 23 Hindu workers, Mr. Eshwarappa charged that the state government failed to arrest those who killed BJP and RSS workers. He took a dig at the government for not accepting the report of V.S. Ugrappa who headed an inquiry panel to probe assaults on women and children. Mr. Ugrappa submitted the report to the state government on 2015, but it was not available in the home department nor women and child welfare department, he added.
Mr. Eshwarappa condemned the government for not releasing funds to rape victims under Nirbaya scheme. Kota Srinivasa Poojari of the BJP condemned the attitude of CM’s media adviser Dinesh Amin Mattu for purifying Kudroli temple, opposing the visit of RSS Pracharak Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. On the other hand, Mr. Ivan D'Souza, ruling party whip said a majority of the accused involved in communal clashes belong to other backward classes (OBC) and poor families. “They are innocent and their family background is very humble, but they are serving jail terms in Mangaluru prison,”Mr. D' Souza explained and added that those who instigated innocent OBC youth to involve in communal attacks were scot-free and their children settled in foreign countries. " I urge the government to take stern action against organizations and individuals who instigate and push innocent youth into communal violence in the coastal distinct,” Mr. D'Souza said.
BJP members protested the remarks of Mr D' Souza who indirectly blamed Sangh Parivar organizations for allegedly instigating OBC youth to involve in communal violence.
