DVAC sleuths examine A Ganapathy's bank a/cs
Coimbatore: Sleuths of the DVAC on Tuesday claimed to have found out online transactions made by the vice chancellor of Bharathiar University (BU), Prof A Ganapathy who was recently arrested while allegedly accepting a hefty bribe.
A source said, apart from teaching staff, around 250 other staff including sanitary workers, office staff, drivers and other sundry recruitments, were made within last two years in the university. “We also received complaints and tipoff about corruption involved in allotting differently-baled quotas,” the source claimed.
“We can't disclose particulars about the entire recruitment made by VC until the entire investigations got over; few more persons from BU have to be probed, we suspect few more professors to be involved in the case who acted as middleman. We have planned to investigate the personal assistant of VC,” added the scource.
“The 76 persons recruited by the VC for the post of professors will be made to undergo an individual enquiry and their eligibility will be verified to confirm whether they deserve the post,” the source said.
“Banks provided easy facilities for huge fund transfers and making use of it the VC had allegedly received money from 60 persons through online transactions as RTGS, we suspect it to be bribe amount,” the source said.
