Bineesh Kodiyeri, Jithin Raj too faced cases in Dubai

The cases have been registered against Bineesh across three police stations.

Thiruvananthapuram: Close on the heels of the court's travel ban on CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son Binoy Kodiyeri, court documents flashed by media on Tuesday revealed that cheating cases were also registered against Bineesh Kodiyeri in Dubai. The reports suggested that three cases were registered against Bineesh during the period of three years. In one of the cases, Bineesh was reportedly sentenced to two months imprisonment.

The cases have been registered against Bineesh across three police stations. The reports pointed out that the imprisonment was ordered by court following a complaint filed by a private company in 2015. Another case pertained to non repayment of 60,000 dirhams to a bank. In this particular case Bineesh had to remit a fine of 3000 dirhams.

The third case is on the charges of non repayment of money to a credit card company. The company had filed a case with a local police station against him for his lapses in paying 30,000 dirhams. There is a case pending against E P Jayarajan's son Jithin Raj for non repayment of 5.25 lakh dirhams tken from a Dubai bank. A Dubai court had sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment. However, the loan was taken to help Atlas Ramachandran who had faced huge financial crisis.

Meanwhile, Binoy Kodiyeri is set to file an appeal against the court order imposing travel ban in connection with civil case. The Dubai court had imposed the travel ban in a cheating case filed by UAE based Tourism Company. Binoy who is in Dubai had been asked to deposit his passport with the court as per the order issued on February 1. He will be permitted to travel outside Dubai only after depositing 1 million dirhams (nearly '1.74 crore) and legally settling the case.
