UK varsities offer info at British Council expo
Chennai: Emma Schlesinger, senior international officer of University of Portsmouth, said Indian students are warming up to courses such as fashion designing, architecture and media compared with the earlier trend of taking up engineering and medical courses.
She said this during the launch of education UK exhibition conducted by British Council on Saturday. About 64 universities from UK had put up stalls at the exhibition offering information to aspiring students.
Some of these include Plymouth University, University of Nottingham, Queens University Belfast and Queen Mary University of London.
“We made sure they chose the right course. We also discussed in details about the content of the courses and about accommodation,” said Stephen Gill from Heriot Watt University.
Ms Emma said, “We emphasize on accreditation in courses like engineering, business courses and architecture. It is really important that these courses have accreditation so that the content of the course can be monitored.”
She also added there are niche activities like mock Bloomberg suite for commerce students and courts for law students, to give them the feeling of real life events. Pranav B. a student from Cochin a visitor at the exhibition said the courses on offer are really good.
