I was promised Rs 10 crore to tell truth: Saritha S Nair
KOCHI: Solar scam-accused Saritha S. Nair has repeated her charge that a person claiming to be a communist had promised her Rs 10 crore if she would tell the truth connected with the solar deal before the judicial commission.
She told reporters here on Saturday that she had no prior connection with the person who identified himself as Prasanth. "I don't even know whether what he said was true or not," she said.
She said the person claimed that he was an emissary of CPM leader E.P. Jayarajan. "I don't know the background or identity of the person and whether he was deputed by Mr. Jayarajan. I don't even know whether he belonged to the CPM," she said.
According to Ms Nair, she did not take the promise seriously as in those days she was thinking of not even cooperating with the judicial commission. She was responding to the charge that the allegations levelled by her were part of a conspiracy against the ruling United Democratic Front.
CPM central committee member Jayarajan, meanwhile, denied the allegations that he had deputed an emissary promising Rs 10 crore to Saritha. However, her statement may put the CPM on the back foot in its agitation against the government on the solar scam.
