Cost estimates for temporary and permanent secretariats contradictory

Hyderabad: The estimates prepared by CRDA for the construction of temporary and permanent secretariats surprised many as the temporary structure is costlier than the permanent building as per estimates.

The CRDA has estimated that construction of temporary secretariat would cost around Rs 300 crore. Interestingly CRDA’s estimation for permanent secretariat is about Rs 218 crore only.

But the state government has reduced the estimate for temporary secretariat to Rs 180 crore from the initial Rs 300 crore. This was revealed by state government itself, when the GO was released sanctioning Rs 90 crore to CRDA to construct temporary secretariat.

The CRDA estimates proposed temporary secretariat with an area of 6 lakh square feet and permanent secretariat with about 9 lakh square feet.

For the temporary secretariat of 6 lakh square feet the cost was pegged at Rs 300 crore while permanent secretariat with 9 lakh square feet area was pegged at just Rs 218 crore.
