Warangal: The state government has been making elaborate arrangements to make Asia's biggest tribal fair Sammakka and Saralamma Jatara a grand success, said tribal welfare minister D. Anasuya Seethakka.
She directed the officials of various departments to work in tandem with dedication for the smooth conduct of the four-day carnival by respecting the beliefs of the people.
The minister warned that the irresponsible officials would not be transferred but they would face the action if they were indulged in any kind of irregularities or create any inconvenience to the devotees vising Medaram.
Seethakka inspected the ongoing developmental works and road repairs at Gundla Vagu in Pasra village of Govindaraopet mandal and directed the officials to speed up repair works on the national highway. Later, she visited the Sammakka and Saralamma temple and offered prayers at Medaram in Thadvai mandal of Mulugu district on Saturday.
She said that the government has sanctioned Rs 75 crores for various works and facilities at Medaram. More funds would be released if need be, she added.
The minister appealed to the devotees coming from far-off places to cooperate by not littering the temple premises and at temporary shelters during Jatara to avoid water and soil pollution in the area as the people in the surrounding villages such as Kannepally, Reddigudem and Narlapally had been suffering from various health issues.
Collector Ila Tripathi, SP Shabarish, ITDA project officer Ankith and additional collector Srija were present.
