Bengaluru: The Basaveshwaranagar police are on the hunt for a motorist, who allegedly kicked and assaulted a woman at a petrol bunk after she questioned him for damaging her scooter on Thursday.

The police said that the victim, Shobha (34), a resident of Kamalanagar, filed a complaint with the Basaveshwaranagar police seeking to find the motorist and initiate action for assaulting her and damaging her scooter.

The assault video went viral on social media on Sunday and the police are yet to trace the motorist, but have identified his vehicle.

Around 8.15 pm on January 3, Shobha went to the petrol bunk near Siddaiah Puranik Road. While filling the petrol, the motorist came in his Honda Dio scooter with his wife and hit her scooter from behind and damaged her vehicle. When she questioned him, the motorist started abusing her and even started throwing things at her. Other people who were at the bunk stopped him and took him to the side. While leaving the bunk, he again started abusing her. The victim asked the man to use the same language on his wife, for this he again got angry and came back to her and kicked her and assaulted her and fled from the spot.

The police said that the entire incident has been caught on the CCTV camera installed at the petrol bunk. "We have taken the footage for investigation. We have traced the vehicle and the person, but are yet to make the arrest," they said.
