Kalaburagi: Trainee inspector faints, dies

On Saturday he complained of illness and left the training centre to visit a hospital in the city.

Kalaburagi: A 30-year-old probationary police Sub-Inspector allegedly fainted and died on the roadside near Ram Mandir circle in Kalaburagi city on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Basavaraj Sharanappa of Benakanalli village in Sedam taluk in Kalaburagi district. The victim was undergoing PSI training at Naganahalli Police Training Centre on the city outskirts.

On Saturday he complained of illness and left the training centre to visit a hospital in the city. Though Basavaraj lost consciousness and fainted on a busy road, no one came for his help.

Police Superintendent N. Shashikumar visited the spot and the Ashok Nagar police have registered a case. In a rare gesture all 590 probationary PSI trainees at the Naganahalli Centre have decided to donste Rs 10,000 each to Basavaraj's family. Shashikumar has appreciated the gesture shown by the trainees.
