Bengaluru: Dense fog hits visibility, nearly 50 flights delayed
Bengaluru: As dense fog engulfed the surroundings of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in the city on Sunday, almost 50 flights got delayed while four were diverted.
According to KIA sources as many as 38 departures were delayed while poor visibility forced delays to at least 11 flight arrivals during the early hours during the weekend.
The diversions included two Air India flight - one from Dubai via Goa and another from Ahmedabad, both diverted to Chennai, another flight from Vizag was diverted to Hyderabad and an Indigo flight from Delhi rerouted to Hyderabad causing inconvenience to flyers.
Though airline companies were keeping the passengers informed, some were agitated and took to social media to express their displeasure. A user tweeted, "We missed the connecting flight to Raipur as the flight faced a 4-hour delay. Please arrange access to Premium Plaza Lounge. Why are passengers taken on a ride at such events all the time?"
Another flyer Kartik tweeted that he had faced a similar situation on Thursday as well. "Had to re-book tickets on another airline then and now my flight to Chennai is delayed indefinitely," he tweeted.
However, there was some relief from immense cold for Bengalureans on Sunday as minimum temperatures recorded was higher than Saturday.
According to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the minimum temperature recorded at Bengaluru Urban and Rural was 13.3 and 12 degrees Celsius respectively. The same was 11.3 and 9.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
