TG Venkatesh hosts lavish bash raising political heat
KURNOOL: Rajya Sabha member T.G. Venkatesh hosted a lavish party just before a day when Rajya Sabha winter session ended and invited almost 10 per cent of the total strength of the Parliament. About 56 MPs cutting across all party affiliations were in attendance. Commerce minister Suresh Prabhu, aviation minister Ashok Gajapati Raju, minister of state for science Sujana Chowdary said to have attended the New Year bash hosted at Bramhaputra flats in New Delhi. An MP who attended the party said that it was “purely a private affair”. It acted as a perfect setting to introduce his son T.G. Bharat who was aspiring to contest as an MLA from Kurnool.
A source said that it was a usual get together and nothing much of importance could be attatched to it. T.G. Venkatesh, who has business interests in chemicals, power, pharma and a host of other financial services, has embarked on a five-fold expansion of his flagship Rayalaseema Indiustries, making it a leading player in alkalis manufacturing in the country.
For the first time in the history of Rayalaseema industries, the name of the group has been changed and the ministry of corporate affairs has allowed the company to change the name to Sri Rayalaseema Alkalies and Allied Chemicals Ltd.
