KURNOOL: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would dedicate Siddapuram lift irrigation project to Nation on Sunday. Amid protests that Naidu was just doing the work of a lashkar as alleged by YSR Congress party, the visit of Chief Minister to Kurnool district is co ordinate by police with heavy bandobust.
This scheme is proposed to stabilise 1,000 acre of ayacut under existing tank besides irrigating new ayacut of 20,300 acres in 12 villages viz. Siddapuram, S.Thanda, Venkatapuram, Bapananthapuram , Kotha Ramapuram , Atmakur Siddapalli , Mustapalli , Peddanantapuram, Nallakalva , Bhanumukkala , Karivena Krishnapuram of Atmakur mandal.
It is proposed to lift 2 tmc of water from fore shore of Velugodu Balancing Reservoir at the rate of 200 cusecs in 120 days to Siddapuram Tank of capacity 0.645 tmc to be filled three times to serve the ayacut of 21,300 acre. Siddaapuram Tank is situated at about 10 kms from Atmakur town on Srisailam Road which was constructed during the year 1922 by the British with 45.89 sq. miles of catchment area, with capacity of 0.645 tmcand bund length of 4.90 km.
