Jayadeva flyover demolition to begin by month-end: BMRCL
Bengaluru: BMRCL will undertake its toughest ever section yet in Phase 2 starting January-end. The razing of Rs 21-crore Jayadeva flyover is a pre-requisite for the construction of RV Road-HSR Layout stretch, leading to Bommasandra
Though he did not mention the exact date, CPRO of BMRCL Mr. Vasanth Rao said, “The demolition of Jayadeva flyover will begin by January-end. It will take about two-and-a-half months to complete."
Above the existing underpass, the ground level road will be constructed (Level 1). Over this will be the two-way, four-lane elevated road (Level 2). The concourse level where the station and ticketing counters will be is next on the pile (Level 3). The train will go on the RV Road- Bommasandra line, above all this (Level 4). The tip of this mountain is Gottigere-Nagawara line (Level 5).
Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), the winning contractor, has a challenging road ahead as they have to to build a five-level metro interchange for the entire 6.3 km stretch passing through Ragigudda, Jayadeva, BTM and touching Central Silk Board.
As per the tender document put up last year, this will all have to be done within 36 months at a cost of Rs 797.20 crore.
Experts have criticised the government for two reasons. One, razing of the recently built Jayadeva flyover which could have been avoided if the BDA Master Plan looked into the DPR of Phase-2. Two, the construction of an elevated road bridge on top of existing roads.
“This is an uphill task with the viaducts (pillars) having to go super high, crossing over the Phase 1 Green Line coming from Banshankari. The Jayadeva Metro interchange after the flyover is demolished will have five levels like a multi-storey building," Srinidhi, a member of Praaja RAAG advocacy group, had said earlier.
