Clean energy may slash power bills: AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu
Nellore: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has hinted of a possible drop in power tariffs following the advent of solar and wind energy plants on a large scale. He was addressing a large number of students after inaugurating the new campus of Vikrama Simhapuri University built at an estimated cost of Rs 26.1 crore at Kakuturu on the outskirts of Nellore City on Saturday.
He called upon the students to use their mental energies and look for inventions which would benefit the poor.
Claiming that the highest revenue earners at Silicon Valley in US are Telugu people, adding that academics is the key to development.
He observed that the second generation will develop if the first generation is highly educated and that development is based on knowledge.
Pointing to the need for practical knowledge apart from theory, he said students in US varsity are in the field after spending four months in college.
“The days of sitting in classrooms are over and students can study anywhere if i-Pads and wi-fi is available. They can depend on virtual classrooms while at home if they are unable to understand the the classroom teaching,” he asserted.
Expressing his desire to convert AP into a knowledge hub, he underlined the need for new orientation for old courses.
He said that the knowledge of IT is a must for students, pursuing any field. Referring to the demand for aquaculture, automobile and boat building, he advised universities to introduce them.
He added that he was willing to allot Rs 50 crore for the development of Vikrama Simhapuri University and the funds will be utilised as per the advise of the expert panel being constituted.
Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Collector R. Muthyala Raju, VSU Vice Chancellor V Veeraiah and former legislator Beeda Masthan Rao were present with the CM among others.
