Visakhapatnam: Two youths start run to create a record

Two youngsters from two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have began a 700-km Ultramarathon.

Visakhapatnam: Aiming to script their names in the High-Range Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records, besides creating awareness about Digital India, two youngsters from two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have began a 700-km Ultramarathon from Vizag to Hyderabad on Friday. D. Suresh, 25, from Khammam town in Telangana and M. Satish Babu, 23, from Srikakulam town of Andhra Pradesh, both technical engineers with the Indian Air Force, have started from MVP Colony in Vizag city to complete the 700-km task in 10 days.

If they run 80 to 85 kms in a day consistently for seven days, they would script their names in both High-Range Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records. The previous record was achieved by a team by covering 75 km in a day consistently for seven days. Visakha East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna flagged off the run on Friday evening and the two will complete the first 35 km distance at Anakapalle, from where they will restart the second stage on Saturday morning. The route will take them towards Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Khammam and Hyderabad. They have planned to cover at least 80 to 85 km in a day consecutively for six days to see their names in the World Records Books.

“Indian Air Force (IAF) has created a platform to share my adventure goals with Satish during the training period in 2012 and Satish also joined with me to create world records,” says Suresh. “I have seen my name in Guinness Book of World Records in the event of the most full contacts kicks (54,127) in one hour by a team (Jayanth Reddy International Taekwondo Academy in Hyderabad in May 31, 2014) and now aim for two more records with the marathon,” he added.

“As the weather is cool and pleasant, we can run for nine hours (morning four hours and evening five hours) in a day. One team in a car follows us during our marathon and we will prepare our food (oatmeal) and take shelter in the temporary tents on the road side during our journey,” says Satish Babu.
