Hyderabad: Creating facilities for footpaths and better parking facilities is important for people to have confidence to walk on the roads stressed urban development minister K T Rama Rao.
In a joint meeting with traffic and municipal officials the stress was on how to make people switch to public transport.
Better facilities in terms of footpath, zebra crossing and disable friendly infrastructure is to be provided so that people can safely walk on the roads.
Presently, people are scared to walk as the infrastructure does not encourage them to walk. With 66% of the people using private vehicles in Hyderabad there are only 34% who opt for public transport.
