Pappu Yadav sells Onions at Sushil Kumar Modi’s house

In many districts, Gaya and Bhagalpur, onions are being sold in the market for about Rs 110 to Rs 120 per kg.

Patna: Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) convener Pappu Yadav stood outside Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi’s private residence in Patna on Thursday and sold onion for Rs 30 per kg.

In many districts, Gaya and Bhagalpur, onions are being sold in the market for about Rs 110 to Rs 120 per kg. Sources said that officials who have been tracking the rising price trend are recording lower figures in their files for official purposes.

While talking to reporters in Patna, Mr Yadav termed the onion crisis as “artificial” and “sponsored by black marketeers”. He claimed had sold over 4 tonnes of onions within two days in Patna.

“I will continue to sell onion at a low rate until the the price comes down. I have also decided to sell onion to students and poor people at `25 per kg. The government has completely failed in controlling the rising onion price. In my view, the crisis is artificial and black marketers are earning heavy profit from this”, the former MP said.
