Kerala High Court quashes case on 2 advocates
Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday exonerated advocates Pratheesh Chacko and Raju Joseph from the list of accused in the case connected with the abduction and sexual assault of a woman film actor.
The High Court pointed out to the lack of evidence in proving the police contention that the two were complicit in destroying evidence.
Upholding the exoneration petition filed by the two, the court pointed out that the prosecution had failed to prove beyond doubt the destruction of memory card or other evidences.
The court also observed that since the police failed to recover the phone containing visuals of the attack against the woman actor the crime could not be proved.
According to the police, Sunilkumar alias Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the case visited advocates Chacko and Joseph when he was hiding after the assault against the actor.
He had handed over the mobile phone containing the visuals of the attack against actor to Chacko.
The police registered a case against Chacko on the charges of concealing crucial evidences in connection with the crime and destruction of the memory card containing the visuals of the assault.
