Election Commission begins probe against fake voters in Sattenapalli

Mr Sisodia said that some voters' lists were prepared without the photo of the voter and some without door numbers.

VIJAYAWADA: The Election Commission (EC) began an inquiry on fake voters in Sattenapalli constituency of Guntur district on Wednesday. An EC team, led by AP state Chief Electoral Officer R.P. Sisodia, has been conducting a field inquiry about fake voters’ registration in Brhugubanda and Ganapavaram of Sattenapalli Assembly Constituency from where AP Legislative Assembly Speaker K. Sivaprasada Rao was elected on Telugu Desam ticket.

YSR Congress state official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu lodged a complaint with EC about registration of fake voters in large numbers by TD leaders in various villages of Sattenapalli Assembly constituency.

Mr Sisodia personally verified the voters as per lists of 107, 108 and 109 polling booth stations at Bhrugubanda village and 150, 151, and 152 polling stations at Ganapavaram and 31 and 32 polling stations at Sattenapalli town.

Addressing a press conference at Sattenapalli, he said that the final voters' list would be prepared without any faults, after thorough verification in the State, before January 4, 2019. He said that 99 per cent of voters’ lists was prepared perfectly and one per cent mistakes were found during the verification. Hence, the officials were directed to clear the issues without any delay.

Mr Sisodia said that some voters’ lists were prepared without the photo of the voter and some without door numbers. Hence, officials will rectify all the errors.
He further said that the officials prepared the list of a total number of 2,22,290 voters in Sattenapalli Assembly constituency and it will be increased further due to new registrations.

Mr Sisodia said that earlier, 2,14,067 voters were registered in Sattenapalli.

He said that 35,56,455 voters are there in Guntur district and 3,70,35,588 voters are there in 13 districts of AP state. He said the officials accepted the votes of 20,92,132 in the state, after verification. He said the political parties lodged complaints with the officials concerned about 52 lakh bogus votes in AP.

Mr Sisodia said that EC found that double entries and triple entries of 25,47,000 votes were there in the voters' lists. The officials verified 11,52,000 votes and have been conducting verification of the remaining votes of 13,94,000 in the State. He added that 57,200 names were deleted from the list of voters, after verification in AP.
