The issue will be highlighted during the protest on December 10.

Kochi: The Catholic Church-controlled teachers are all set to launch an agitation against the state government in protest against amendments brought to the Kerala Education Rules in 2016. Speaking to reporters in Kochi on Wednesday, Bishop Andrews Thazhath, chairman of the Education Commission of Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council, said teachers under the aegis of Catholic Teachers' Guild will organise dharnas before district offices of the Education Department on December 10 to protest against the amendments.

The issue had been brought to the attention of the government on several occasions and appointment of thousands of teachers since 2016-17 had been blocked. The issue will be highlighted during the protest on December 10. The Teachers' Guild also plans to organise a march to the State Secretariat in the third week of January to highlight the issue and press the government to initiate remedial action.
