Berths up for grabs, expansion on December 22
Bengaluru: Chairman of the coalition government's co-ordination committee and former CM Siddaramaiah on Wednesday declared that the much-awaited expansion of the state cabinet will happen on December 22 when all eight vacancies will be filled besides appointing chairpersons of state-run boards and corporations.
The co-ordination committee has also agreed to appoint parliamentary secretaries of the JD(S) and Congress on a 1:2 formula. Speaking to reporters after the co-ordination meeting, Mr Siddaramaiah said two MLAs of JD(S) and six of the Congress will be inducted as ministers.
Dispelling rumours about the stability of the government, the Congress leader took a jibe at Union Minister Prakash Javadekar's claim that there would be a tectonic shift in the state soon quipping that Mr Javadekar should be more worried about the political shift going to happen after December 11 when the Assembly poll results of five states would be out.
Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy too asserted that the alliance between the JD(S) and Congress was 'strong as a rock' remarking that the BJP has been making such claims all along.
