Tamil Nadu government to revise parking fees collected by local bodies

According to official sources, the state government on November 30, has passed orders revising the rates.

Chennai: The state government, which recently revised cinema ticket price for multiplex theatres inviting sharp criticism from the common public, is likely to revise the parking fee collected by local bodies across the state.

According to the GO, cycles will not be charged for parking and the cost of parking fee for the municipal corporation and municipalities are fixed at '20 per car and three wheelers. For two wheelers Rs 10 has been fixed. In case of special grade municipalities Rs 15 and Rs 7 are fixed for cars and two wheelers.

To park vehicles in town panchayats and village panchayats the rates are fixed as Rs 5 and Rs 3, official sources said. The order copy signed by the additional chief secretary Niranjan Mardi is likely to be dispatched to local bodies for effective implementation from the mid of December.
