Telangana: Congress protests for session
Hyderabad; The Congress legislators on Monday staged a dharna outside the Assembly buildings demanding an immediate reconvening of State Legislature to discuss the matter of public importance.
Legislators led by TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly), and Shabbir Ali (Council) wanted to stage a dharna inside the Assembly premises but they were prevented by the watch and ward staff.
Angry Congress lea-ders went to their legislature party office and summoned Legisl-ature Secretary S. Raja Sadaram.
On being enquired the reason for not allowing them to hold dharna inside the Assembly precincts, the legislature secretary said the Speaker had rejected the plea saying that such prot-ests were not permitted.
When Mr Jana Reddy tried to know the exact dates when the Assembly is going to be reconvened, the Secretary said he was not aware the dates.
Later, the Congress legislators went outside the Assembly, and staged a dharna on the pavement with Mahatma Gandhi Statue in background.
