Centre pays for cashless infra
Hyderabad: The Centre has taken up the campaign for cashless transactions across the country in a big way. It has released up to Rs 5 lakh per district based on population and directed state governments that this amount be utilised as seed money to start the campaign activity.
Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant has written to collectors directly and asked them to promote digital payments for day-to-day financial transactions like buying and selling goods/ services. The NITI Aayog has asked state governments to send population figures district wise to sanction funds.
The Centre will give Rs 10 per head for the campaign of cashless transactions.
The Centre said incentives will be provided to collectors for every individual who transfers to digital payment and has undertaken at least two successful transactions by any digital payment.
In another letter the Union IT ministry has asked state governments to utilise the Common Service Networks to mobilise citizens and merchants to go cashless.
It has announced an incentive of Rs 100 to CSE operators for every merchant enabled to transact digitally and Rs 5 to CSE operators per citizen enrolled to the digital payment system.
The top ten districts will be awarded the digital payment Champions of India Award by NITI Aayog. The first 50 panchayats which go cashless will be awarded the digital payment award.
