Trio caught selling ivory tusks in Bengaluru

Based on this information, the police rushed to the spot and arrested the three besides seizing the two ivory tusks.

Bengaluru: The Kodigehalli police have arrested three people who were trying to sell ivory tusks in the city and seized two tusks weighing 15 kg from them.

The accused have been identified as M.B. Nagesh alias Jayaraju, 48, Krishna Raju BD, 54, HG Prathap, 27, all natives of Hassan.

According to the police, on Sunday, they received credible information that a few people were carrying ivory tusks in a silver coloured Alto car and were trying to sell it near Hebbal lake. Based on this information, the police rushed to the spot and arrested the three besides seizing the two ivory tusks.

The police said the three accused found the tusks in Sakleshpur forest near a dead elephant and smuggled it from there to the city and were trying to sell it here. The Kodigehalli police have registered a case and are investigating.
