South Central Railways bed sheets end up as cop's car seat covers
Hyderabad: South Central Railways (SCR) bedsheets, which are supposed to be used in first class coaches, were found being used as seat covers in a Telangana police car in Hyderabad. SCR officials are uncertain about how it happened.
The police vehicle which was deployed on Assembly election-related bandobast in Boduppal supposedly belongs to the Medipally police station. The front and rear seats were found covered with the SCR bedsheets. A video footage available with this correspondent shows the upholstery having the logo of SCR.
When contacted, an SCR official said that due to lack of sufficient laundering capacity in their own units at Kacheguda, Tirupati and other places, bedsheets and towels were given to contractors for bulk washing. They said that the sheets might have got into the wrong hands from there.
Asked about this, Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said it had come to their notice as well and they have started an enquiry into the matter.
