Bengaluru: To avert any untoward incidents on the occasion of Tipu Jayanti celebrations, scheduled to be celebrated on November 10, the state police have launched a ‘good morning beat’ to ensure law and order situation is maintained in the state.
The police have beefed up security in sensitive areas and religious places after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed the police to ensure that no clashes occurred on the occasion.
The police are advised to use social media platforms and WhatsApp to connect with residents and also to monitor the social media platforms for messages that may stir hatred.
The ‘good morning beat’ is similar to the existing ‘night beat’. Police personnel have been told to tackle any untoward incident immediately and keep an eye on anti-social activities, mostly in vulnerable areas. The new beat system will continue even after Tipu Jayanti, a senior police officer said.
The message has been passed on to all senior police officers through a circular issued from the office of the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police after a review meeting with the chief minister.
The police chief has prohibited any public programmes, rallies and marches till the completion of Tipu Jayanti. Besides, the police have been asked to prepare a detailed report on incidents during the celebrations over the last three years, and take preventive action against anti-social elements and habitual offenders.
